Karen Millen signs footwear licensing deal with Pentland Brands

Karen Millen has signed a footwear licensing deal with Pentland Brands in a move that will take its footwear offer beyond its own stores and into multi brand environments and department stores globally.

CEO of the premium womenswear brand Beth Butterwick said the deal would enable Karen Millen to produce a wider range of styles and offer greater availability. "Pentland is the perfect partner, with a truly expert level of knowledge when it comes to footwear licensing and long-standing record of working with brands to build their global presence," she said.

Founded in 1981 Karen Millen has grown into a global brand and recently signed a licensing deal with IMG to enable the brand to expand into categories such as swimwear, athleisure, lingerie, gifts, accessories and luggage.

This is the first footwear license added to the Pentland portfolio since it transformed its Footwear Division in 2017 to simplify how it works with partners and retailers, making it easier to add new brands and licenses to its portfolio. As well as owning or part owning a number of footwear and apparel brands, Pentland also produces footwear under license for brands such as Lacoste and Kickers.

Richard Newcombe, President of Pentland Brands Footwear Division, said “We’re really excited to partner with the Karen Millen team as we believe there’s great potential for the brand in the footwear category. Our focus will be on creating exceptional footwear designs that capture the brand signature of individuality, attention to detail and quality that makes Karen Millen such an iconic womenswear brand.”

The first Karen Millen footwear collection with Pentland Brands will be launched internationally, both in store and online, in AW19.
