Justin Bieber has slammed H&M and accused the global retailer of using his image without his approval.

The Canadian singer made the accusation on Instagram yesterday, urging his 270 million followers not to purchase the H&M garments and accessories. The collection features Bieber's face on a sweater dress with a black and white photo of him, a canvas bag, and several fashion others.

Bieber took to his Instagram stories writing: “'I didn't approve any of the merch collection that they put up at H&M… all without my permission and approval. SMH I wouldn't buy it if I were you.”

This statement was followed by a second slide which read: “The H&M merch they made of me is trash and I didn’t approve it, don't buy it.”

H&M, which often produces licensing merchandise with singers such as Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish has carried Justin Bieber products since 2016. A spokesman for the retailer said: “As with all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M followed proper approval procedures.”

H&M said separately that it had removed the Bieber products from sale online. "We have followed all approval stages, but while we are still checking this with all concerned parties, items have been removed from selling," a H&M spokesperson clarified.
