Just Around the Corner to stage first in person “Pow Wow” sessions at next week's event
Just Around the Corner (JATC) will stages its first in-person “Pow Wow” sessions with guest speakers and buying and sourcing experts, Simon Platts and Katherine O’Driscoll, when the event opens in its new home of Tobacco Dock on Sunday 16 July.
The first "Pow Wow" session will take place on Monday 17 July at 3.30pm at The Courtyard, Tobacco Dock. This will be followed on the Tuesday with O'Driscoll available to all on a dedicated stand in the Great Gallery where visitors will be able to speak to her on site from 10am to 1.30pm.
Platts and O'Driscoll as the founders of consultancy SP& KO Limited, which they established in March 2023 following the departure of Platts from ASOS where he had been Responsible Sourcing and ESG Director for 10 years. O'Driscoll acted as a consultant to ASOS with Platts before moving onto consult for the N Brown Group, setting its five-year sustainability strategy. Platts is also CEO and Co-founder of start-up Recomme, which offers a workable solution for circularity and end of life management for retailers.
JATC managing director Juls Dawson said it as a 'coup' to have the two on-board for the show. "[...] They are leaders in their fields and have spearheaded the adoption of sustainable and ethical practices across several UK leading retailers. Their careers have spanned several decades and leading retailers including Next, ASOS, The Very Group, Blacks, N Brown Group, JD Sports and Republic.
"They and the team at JATC want to impart some of this knowledge with the industry at large as it is the single most important element of any credible fashion business, whatever their size, both now and in the years to come," Dawson said.
