27 June 2022

John Lewis has named Queralt Ferrer as its first Director of Design for Fashion, as the retailer aims to become a "more significant player in fashion and home."

John Lewis said the appointment will support plans to help develop and grow its own-brand ranges, including its newest own brand, Anyday. Launched in April 2021, Anyway currently offers more than 3,600 in-house designed products across home and fashion, having added the latter category last September.

An experienced Global Design and Creative Director, Queralt is responsible for the launch of the Massimo Dutti fashion brand and led the company’s growth over a 17 year period. She was previously the Director of Design for Marks & Spencer Womenswear and Lingerie and was credited for her work in redefining the brand and collection strategy to consolidate market leadership.

Commenting on the appointment, Kathleen Mitchell, Commercial Director for John Lewis said: "Queralt’s appointment underlines our ambition to further raise the profile of John Lewis design and our commitment to investing in our own-brand ranges. She brings outstanding expertise in world-class design that will elevate the creative energy and talent we already have within the team."

Queralt Ferrer, Director of Design, Fashion added: ‘I am thrilled to be joining the John Lewis team and look forward to working with the in-house design team, to lead and inspire in the creation and delivery of distinctive collections that delight our customers and achieve our ambitions’.
