John Lewis appoints Andrew Murphy as CIO

John Lewis has announced the promotion of Andrew Murphy to the role of CIO replacing Paul Coby who will leave the partnership at the end of April next year.

Murphy joined John Lewis in 1992 and has been managing director of John Lewis Aberdeen and of John Lewis Edinburgh. In 2009 he was appointed director, operational development before becoming retail director of John Lewis in 2010. In 2015 he became group productivity director, where he led the partnership's change programme.

He takes up the new role on 1 February while Coby will leave at the end of April after seven years' service. John Lewis chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield described Coby as "the architect of the IT strategy for John Lewis, which helped to transform the business into a leading omni-channel retailer" and thanked him for his "outstanding contribution" the business.
