Joe Browns launches sustainable swimwear collection

Fashion and homes retailer Joe Browns has announced the launch of its first 16-piece recycled swimwear collection.

The collection includes swimsuits, bikinis, tankinis, bustiers, panelled briefs and skirts with polyester fabrics made up of recycled plastics and was inspired by holiday styles of the 1960s.

The rain forests of Papua New Guinea and vibrant bohemian vibes were also translated into the collection with "strong and stand out prints." The entire range is also fitted with design features such as tummy support, underwiring, ruching, adjustable straps and removable pads.

The wider womenswear collection also contains sustainable content, with denim dresses, jeans and shorts including recycled polyester.

Louise Harrison, Swimwear Buyer at Joe Browns, said: “It was important to create a swimwear range that first and foremost, looked great, felt wonderful to wear and featured the amazing prints that our customers love.

“When sourcing the fabric, we found this incredible recycled plastic/polyester mix that means Joe Browns and our customers can do a little bit for the environment while shopping water-worthy pieces for their summer wardrobe. These are all positive moves in our steps to becoming more sustainable.”

The range is priced between £18 to £45.

Joe Browns recently reported a "strong" Christmas trading period, with cumulative sales increasing 68% for its Autumn/Winter 2021 season, compared to the same period in 2020. Direct sales were up by 24% against last year in the two weeks leading up to 25 December.
