Jeremy Hackett returns to his roots on Savile Row

Jeremy Hackett is returning to the renowned street where he began his career in menswear, Savile Row, having signed for a new store for his Hackett brand.

Located at number 14, formerly home to Hardy Amies, the new store will comprise a retail space, bespoke tailoring and a room for limited edition collections, the Evening Standard has reported.

Hackett began his career in the 1970s on Savile Row before starting his own business via a stall on the Portobello Road in 1979.

He told the newspaper: “When I first opened Hackett it was inspired by Savile Row - albeit ready to wear. I remember serving the great Hardy Amies, who was a true gentleman. Little did I think that all these years later I would be opening a shop in his old premises, alongside such esteemed tailors.”

Property agents CBRE, Colliers International and KLM Retail advised on the deal at 14 Savile Row, which is owned by the Pollen Estate.

Hackett is part of the Pepe Jeans Group, along with Faconnable and Norton. Pepe was founded in the UK in the 1970s, also in Portobello. It is now headquartered in Spain and since 2015 has been owned by the Lebanese Mikati family’s M1 investment vehicle.
