Jean Paul Gaultier launches new rental and resale service featuring iconic and archival looks

French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier has announced it will begin offering fans access to its '80s and '90s collection, following the launch of its JPG archive rental service and revamped e-commerce website.

Gaultier, whose designs have been adored and seen on fashion icons including Beyoncé, Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid, sent shoppers scrambling for his coveted items on resale sites following his retirement in January this year.

The French designer has assured fans that his eponymous label will remain, despite stepping down after his 50-year career, with the Spring/Summer 2022 collection to be unveiled shortly.

Shoppers will now be able to rent over 30,000 pieces from the fashion brand's archives, including iconic pieces such as the punk-inspired custom Schott perfecto jacket, various cone bra corsets popularised by Madonna in 1990, and the infamous cage dress as seen on Eurotrash.

Sourced directly from private collectors and archivists from around the world, a collection of 50 items will be for sale on the vintage section of the brand's website.

The new direction from Gagey and newly appointed Creative Director Florence Tétier reflects the brand's strategy to appeal to vintage-inspired millennial and Gen-Z generations who are turning to rental and resale market for vintage luxury pieces.

Prices from the collection are expected to range from €150 for short-term let of a scarf to €700 for the short-term let of an evening dress.

Jean Paul Gaultier's new rental and resale options are expected to launch this week.
