JD Sports to treble store size at Meadowhall in Sheffield
JD Sports is almost trebling its store size to 29,225 sq ft at the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield by taking five adjacent units to its existing space.
The expansion will make it the retailer’s biggest store in the region and its second largest nationally, with only JD’s store at Westfield Stratford larger.
Opening in 2026, the bigger space will feature dedicated brand and product areas, alongside regular in-store activations, providing "an enhanced shopper experience" for Meadowhall’s visitors.
The upsized store will also boast a 63 metre frontage allowing JD to better showcase brands including Nike, Adidas and The North Face within the centre.
James Air, Director of Group Acquisitions at JD, said: "I am absolutely thrilled that we will be delivering one of our largest stores in Europe at Meadowhall. With over 60 metres of frontage in a prime location, I am confident this will be one of our very best stores."
JD’s larger store will follow Ann Summers’ upsize to 2,854 sq ft at Meadowhall. The elevated store design will showcase a wider range of the lingerie and sex toy brand’s products on the Lower Level High Street of the centre.

"JD and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30m in their stores in the last 12 months.
"These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region."
As reported last month, global beauty retailer Sephora will be opening its first store in Yorkshire at Meadowhall this summer as it continues its rapid expansion across the UK. The new store will be located on the Upper Level High Street of the centre.
Similar to its existing locations, the new Sephora store will bring a selection of local and global brands that have "disrupted the beauty industry" across the makeup, travel, fragrance, skincare, haircare, grooming and wellness categories.
