Following JD's announcement regarding the closure of menswear retailer Wellgosh, the sportswear giant has confirmed it will be converting its retail spaces into Size? stores.

Wellgosh confirmed that it is permanently closing its Leicester flagship location, e-commerce site and other retail locations, shutting the doors on over 35 years of business history.

The message published read: "It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing down of Wellgosh. For over 35 years, Leicester has been the beating heart of our brand and we are grateful to our store teams and the dedicated community that we have created. Our website and stores will close shortly."

On 5 January 2021, JD Sports acquired Wellgosh for an undisclosed sum. Peter Turner founded the business over 35 years ago in a small store in Leicester’s Silver Arcade. The company expanded and relocated to larger premises in 1998.

A spokesperson confirmed to Leicestershire Live: "We plan to convert three stores Leicester, Birmingham, and Nottingham to our Size? brand in due course. Customers in these locations will get access to a fantastic selection of the latest streetwear and footwear ranges from Size?."

Size? was established in 2000, to specialise in footwear. It now boasts stores across the UK, the  Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Despite Size?'s popularity, this news had led to a mass disappointment for Leicester’s locals and fans of the historic retailer.
