JD Sports Fashion appoints new Senior Director

JD Sports Fashion has announced the appointment of Kath Smith as its new Senior Independent Director and Chair of the Nominations Committee.

Smith first joined the board in May 2019, bringing "substantial experience of working with world leading brands, particularly those in the sports sector".

She was also the interim Chair of the Remuneration Committee but, as a result of the new appointment, has now stepped down from this role. Bert Hoyt will take over as interim Chair of the Remuneration Committee until a permanent Chair is appointed.

Prior to JD Sports, Smith has worked as the GM and Vice President of The North Face EMEA, a VF Corporation company. She has over 30 years' experience of building brands including Mars and Diageo. Along with 20 years' experience within the sporting goods industry, where she was Managing Director of Adidas and Reebok.
