British designer Jasper Conran has unveiled his debut dress collection for SS22, featuring a selection of easy-to-wear summer staples, adding to the handbag line he introduced last year.

The launch range comprises 12 key shapes in a range of colour and print combinations totalling 31 looks and have been designed to dress up or down to suit modern lifestyles.

All dresses are made from cotton or crepe and are available in sizes 8 to 18 via jasperconran.com with a curated edit also available at Next's website from next month. Prices range from £160 to £220.

Conran said the consideration of fit, form and fabric was key to the collection, which includes bold prints and chic black, with sleeves and pockets featured on all designs. Details such as obi-belted and elasticated waistlines ensure a perfect fit.

“First and foremost, I look to create practical yet beautiful solutions for the life of the busy modern woman. All the details are thought out and reworked until they are perfect. I always consider who she is – fresh, contemporary and lively. I want our products to be the best friends in her wardrobe," Conran said.

Conran, one of Britain's pre-eminent fashion designers, relaunched his own label following the change of ownership at Debenhams for whom he had designed a long-standing and successful collection. He launched his own range of handbags last years, with a further 12 styles being added for SS22, and plans to build out the label by focusing on key categories. Coats are a category he is targeting for the future.

Prices for bags range from £89-£125 for faux leather and £220-£270 for leather styles. Again the collection will be available on Conran's website and via John Lewis and Next's website.

Later this week Jasper Conran will be the subject of TheIndustry.fashion's In Conversation podcast and will be talking about the relaunch of his label and his long career at the forefront of British fashion.
