Tokyo-based men's fashion magazine Clutch Magazine is set to open a retail store, Clutch Café, in London's Fitxrovia early next year.

Thor Retail Advisors secured the lease on the 2,000 sq ft space at 78-80A Great Portland Street, which is close to Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Circus with near neighbours including the BBC and Facebook HQs.

The area has strong links to fashion and has been home to many showrooms, wholesalers and fashion and retail HQs. “We were pleased to be able to secure a long-term lease for Clutch Café in a high footfall location in Fitrzrovia, a buzzing area with historical links to the rag trade,” said Tom McHugh, director at Thor Retail Advisors.

Clutch's store will combine a boutique with a café and will open in Q1 of 2018. The magazine was founded in 2012 and has an English-language website for its international fanbase.

It is the latest in a line of media brands to move into retail. Time Inc's luxury lifestyle magazine Wallpaper has a store and e-commerce site, while stablemate Marie Claire opened the Fabled beauty concept store on Tottenham Court Road last year. Wonderland magazine recently staged a pop-up on Piccadilly.
