Contemporary men’s and womenswear trade show Jacket Required is upping its eco-friendly brand line up for the next show at The Old Truman Brewery on 23-24 January 2019.
Leading the way is sustainable denim brand Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, showing for the first time alongside the likes of Teva, Tretorn, Peak Performance, Toms, Birkenstock, Fjällräven, Sandqvist, Conscious Step and Absolutely Bear.
Based within a renovated 1920’s factory building in Walthamstow, East London, the Blackhorse Lane Ateliers combine the production of jeans with a “think global, act local” approach. Employing local machinists, the business also offers shared ownership to each employee, as well as minimising the environmental impact of making denim garments by using organic cotton, denim woven in Europe, and offering a lifetime repair policy that discourages fast fashion.
The denim repair workshop gives new life to old denim and the team will be demonstrating how it all works at the show. Lindsay Hoyes, event director of Jacket Required, said: “The dedicated team behind Blackhorse Lane Ateliers epitomises the movement towards conscious fashion rather than the fashion conscious.
“Together with the growing number of ethical and sustainable brands showing at Jacket Required, it’s a heartening indication that the industry is waking up and reimagining what the future of fashion could be.”
