Jacket Required appoints sustainable ambassador

Tom Bottomley
28 October 2019

Contemporary menswear trade show Jacket Required has appointed Phil Wildbore as its sustainable ambassador to spearhead the growth of the show’s sustainable offer.

Wildbore is one of the original pioneers of ethical fashion, having launched his first conscious brand, Road, in the 1980’s, after becoming aware of poor working conditions while working with a factory in Leicester.

He later launched sustainable denim brand Monkee Genes in 2006, which became the first jeans brand to be awarded the Soil Association certification. Fast forward to 2019 and the brand has grown in to an ethical fashion destination, with all of its garments made in Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified factories.

On his new appointment, Wildbore comments: “I am proud of my role for Jacket Required with the ability to continue my campaign to promote sustainability and ethical manufacturing, and I’m very much looking forward to my next adventure in this ever-evolving industry.”

Adam Gough, event director at Jacket Required, adds: “He brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience in the ethical and sustainable fashion arena and at Jacket Required we are determined to work towards creating a show that prides itself on showcasing brands with a clear conscious vision for the future and good quality product produced in the most ethical and sustainable way.”

The next Jacket Required takes place in East London’s Old Truman Brewery on the 22–23 January, 2020.
