Founded in 1976 by Lucille and Richard Lewin, Whistles is a British contemporary fashion label known for its timeless pieces with an intelligent sense of design. The brand has more than 40 stores and is sold in big department stores such as Selfridges, John Lewis, House of Fraser and Harvey Nichols.
Lewin sold the business to Aurora Fashions in 2002 (then known as Mosaic Fashions) and in 2008 former Topshop brand director Jane Sheperdson bought the business out. In 2016, the company was bought by the South African retailer Foschini Group (TFG), and Shepherson bowed out soon after.
TFG London has recently announced its return to profit and has discontinued its menswear line.
