Founded in 1966 by Douglas Tompkins and Susie Tompkins, The North Face is an American outdoor apparel brand that specialises in outwear, fleece, coats, footwear, and equipment such as backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags.
The company sponsors professional runners, climbers, skiers and snowboarders and is famous for its insulated jackets.
The North Face incorporates recycled materials into their products and take responsibility for the products’ end-of-life through a long-standing commitment to durability and their Clothes The Loop take-back program. The North Face has engaged with its suppliers in efforts to reduce chemicals, water, energy and waste in their mills, with savings equivalent to removing over 150 tanker trucks of chemicals and over 330 Olympic swimming pools of water since 2010.
