Roland Mouret

Description:

Self-taught French designer Roland Mouret caused a global sensation with his much loved and much copied Galaxy dress, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016. The designer almost lost the right to lose his name following a fall out with his first backers Sharai and André Meyers, who retained the rights to his name after they fell out with the designer in 2006, just after the launch of the Galaxy.

For a while the designer operated under the brand RM by the designer Roland Mouret. Then in 2010, rights to the “Roland Mouret” name were acquired by the joint venture of Roland Mouret and Simon Fuller's XIX Entertainment (the entertainment mogul who also backed Victoria Beckham’s move into fashion).

In 2016 Mouret returned to London Fashion Week, having shown in Paris for the previous 10 years.
