Harrods

Description:

Founded by Charles Henry Harrod in 1849, Harrods is a London-based luxury department store with an outpost at Heathrow Terminal 5. It is perhaps one of the best-known landmarks in London.

In 1959, the department store was acquired by the House of Fraser Group but, in 1994, it was moved out of the group (which at that point was floating) to remain a private company in the hands of businessman Mohamed al Fayed. Harrods was then sold to the state of Qatar in 2011. The department store recently announced a tie-up with Farfetch to create a new global e-commerce presence.
