Dorothy Perkins

Description:

Dorothy Perkins started under the name "Ladies Hosiery and Underwear Limited" in 1909. In 1939, the trading name 'Dorothy Perkins' was adopted, suggested by the directors wife and inspired by a British rambling rose.

Beginning a six-year relationship with Biba in 1969, Dorothy Perkins bought a controlling stake in the famous clothes company. Dorothy Perkins sold Biba make-up from its own stores and funded the opening of 'Big Biba', an iconic store on Kensington High Street, complete with its own roof gardens and pink flamingos.

Today, it is part of the Arcadia Group of affordable British high-street brands.
