As Westfield in the UK sees its final day of operating for essential retail only, the shopping destination is continuing to decorate for Christmas celebrations, whilst non-essential stores prepare for customers to once again make purchases.

Footfall across all retail destinations throughout the UK was -55.4% during 15-21 November compared to the same week in 2019, according to retail experts Springboard.

Footfall in Central London continued to be the hardest hit, at -80.4% year-on-year, and regional city centres were -64.4%.

Retailers including Primark, Lush, H&M and COS were preparing store windows for Christmas, with all of Westfield's decorations already in place. The Christmas tree can be found in the outside plaza near Laser Clinics UK.

TheIndustry.fashion took a look at the preparations for Westfield Stratford:

Earlier today, Westfield White City launched the UK’s first ever Christmas rental store, A Very Rental Christmas, where customers can rent everything needed for the festive season.

It will open its doors in line with government guidelines from 3-13 December, with Westfield also running free virtual styling sessions on 1-2 December.

Primark will open its stores in both Westfield White City and Westfield Stratford for 24 hours from 7am on 2 December right through until closing time on 3 December.

When non-essential retail originally reopened in June 2020, TheIndustry.fashion went to take a look at procedures and crowd levels:
