In Pictures: UGG's collab with Ambush is its fluffiest yet
Sheepskin shoemaker UGG has collaborated with Tokyo-based Ambush for its furriest collaboration to date, featuring Mary Jane and loafer silhouettes.
Available for purchase starting 21 February, the teenhood-inspired collection is crafted from UGG's premium materials and follows Ambush's unique aesthetic.
The Mary Jane is available in pink and white, and is covered with sheepskin and finished with metal and leather details including a metal heart buckle. Surprisingly, this is not the bootmaker's first foray into the classic silhouette after launching its controversial 'Bea' chunky slipper-cum-Mary Jane earlier this year.
The UGG Ambush Loafer features a backless penny loafer silhouette finished with metal and sheepskin detailing, and is available in burgundy and black.
UGG is increasingly known for its unpredictable yet successful collaborations, in what seems like an attempt to break away from its initial reputation as the airport shoe of the middle-class woman. The Californian boot brand has collaborated with the likes of Palace, Molly Goddard and Telfar.
Despite its initial 'UGG Australia' logos, UGG was founded in California in 1978 by Australian surfer Brian Smith who moved to the American west coast with the dream of creating a never-before-seen sheepskin boot.
YOON, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Ambush, said: "I want the collaboration to bring comfort to the reality of everyday life. Personally, I love Mary Janes and loafers and wanted to create a more relaxed version of them with UGG. These styles are versatile and can match many looks, from casual to dressy."
Ambush was founded in 2008 by Japanese and South Korean designers Verbal and Yoon in 2008. It is their second creative venture out of their Ambush Design Company, after their Antonio Murphy & Astro couture jewellery line in 2004.
