In Pictures: M&S unveils second collaboration collection with Bella Freud

Marks & Spencer has launched its second design collaboration with London-based fashion designer Bella Freud, following on from the debut AW24 collection.

The collaboration brings Freud’s “irreverent cool” take to the fully-fledged lifestyle collection across womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, lingerie and homeware, which is a new addition for AW25.

Freud worked collaboratively with the M&S design team to create the collection, and each statement word or phrase featured on the designs were hand drawn in her synonymous style.

Key pieces include the ‘Wham Bam’ jumper, a velvet tuxedo jacket, silk shirts, a cashmere coat and a terry towelling cosmetics bag with ‘Beautiful’ on the side.

Bella Freud said: “This year’s collection is based on the idea of entertaining at home. You want to be a bit dressed up and feel glamorous, but you also want to feel at ease.

“At the centre of the collection is a velvet suit and around that, there’s wool and cashmere knitwear and silk shirts, to style it back with. I think the styling feels old school and glamorous – it’s dressing down that’s dressed up.”

Catching “the magic of family Christmas’s” this year’s collection also introduces matching family pyjamas – “from baby and kids through to Mum and Dad”. They come in a 100% cotton sateen in a soft blue with contrasting red piping, buttons and embroidered words - ‘Dreamers’, ‘Snuggle’ and ‘Snooze’.

Kids’ 100% cashmere jumpers feature in red, navy and burgundy, with playful words such as ‘Me!’, ‘Laugh’ and ‘Star’, and there’s also 100% cashmere socks for women.

Maddy Evans, M&S Womenswear Director, said: “After the huge success of the debut M&S X Bella Freud collection last October, it was a no brainer that we team up with Bella once again.

“Customers loved the collection, from the iconic word jumpers through to the classic Bella Freud tailoring styles, and this newest collection features all of those hero styles and more, whilst continuing to champion luxe fabrics including 100% silk, 100% cashmere and velvet.

“However, we haven’t stopped there, there’s a surprise in store because we’ve expanded the collection, introducing family PJ’s, kids, home styles, and not forgetting the dog – a real treat for customers ahead of Christmas and perfect for gifting!”

Freud added: “I must tell you about the little dog jumper, which I think will make people very happy. It’s really fun to make a little garment for a dog – and they’re often hosting alongside you, so it’s only fair they dress up too.”

The M&S x Bella Freud collection is now available on the M&S website and in 15 selected stores, with prices starting at £10 for the home nibble bowls to £300 for the women’s wool coat.
