As the UK continues to abide by Government instructions and stay at home to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, key shopping destinations in London including Oxford Street, Seven Dials and New Bond Street remain quiet.

UK footfall is now 67.5% lower than in the same week of 2020, but that is still some way off from the lowest level of -82.2% reached during the first Lockdown, or even the level in the second week of Lockdown 1 when footfall had declined by -75.1%.

Next is among the latest Oxford Street casualties, joining Gap, New Look, Topshop and Debenhams in closing a retail premises down the historic shopping street.

Earlier this month Topshop's flagship Oxford Circus store was confirmed to be permanently closed, with JD Sports and Next rumoured to have been interested at one point.
