In Pictures: Local high streets and shopping centres see surging demand this week

Shoppers have been revelling in the ability to once again browse and make purchases in non-essential retail locations this week, with clothing stores, beauty locations and outdoor hospitality open for business.

TheIndustry.fashion visited Kingston's local high street and Bentall Shopping Centre to see if trends seen throughout Central London this week continue in the suburbs.

With the sun shining bright and a light breeze, visitors continued to return to the local high street as the week came to a close, as people took every opportunity to enjoy retail after being unable to make in-person purchases since December 2020.

Queues formed outside yet another Primark location, repeating what has been seen outside of both the Oxford Street and Westfield Stratford stores.

Many shoppers also took advantage of the plentiful local outdoor dining options available, which helped boost footfall with the overall impression being buoyant with more shoppers present than during the lifting of previous lockdowns.

On Monday TheIndustry.fashion visited Oxford Street for the first day of retail reopening. Wednesday saw a visit to Westfield Stratford, the 4th-largest shopping centre in the UK.
