Gymshark has gone big with its first bricks & mortar store, taking a 18,000 sq ft premium retail unit on London's Regent Street.

The store stays trues to Gymshark's roots and is designed to foster a spirit of community among its millennial consumer base with fitness classes, expert advice, and an events space for staging podcasts, panel talks and screenings.

Key experiences include The Sweat Room, offering a rotating line-up of fitness classes, The Pro Bench, where fitness experts can offer advice to customers (who can book 25-minute one-to-one slots), and The Hub, which is where events such as podcast and talks will be held. Officially opening on Saturday, the store also features a branch of Joe & The Juice.

Gymshark

Gymshark was founded by entrepreneur and CEO Ben Francis and his friend Lewis Morgan in 2012, who famously set the business up in Francis' parents' garage while still students. The brand initially printed apparel on demand and a visit to a trade show in 2013 was to prove pivotal when its stock sold out on day one and a tracksuit went viral on social media generating £30,000 of sales in 30 minutes.

Social media and community have remained at the heart of the brand's proposition and it is now one of the UK's fastest growing businesses with Francis one of the country's most respected and best-known entrepreneurs.

Francis said of the store, which is housed in a unit formerly occupied by J Crew: "If you told 20-year old Ben that Gymshark would be opening its first-ever store on Regent Street, I would never have believed you. 10 years later...".
