In Pictures: Grace Jones stars in Wolford’s SS23 campaign by new Artistic Director Nao Takekoshi
Lanvin Group-owned Wolford has called on the services of charismatic singer, actress and model Grace Jones to front its new SS23 campaign – set to be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week on Friday by Wolford’s new Artistic Director, Nao Takeoshi.
Jones, looking amazing at 74, wears Wolford’s ‘Fatal Dress’ in the head-turning images, as Wolford’s new creative concept is “focused on embracing its iconic essentials”.
From the first ‘Fatal’ dress to the ‘Colorado’ body and ‘Mat De Luxe’ body, Grace Jones has often been seen wearing many of Wolford’s pieces – including in the 1990s wearing its ‘Fatal’ tights on the Spanish Steps in Rome for a performance for TV show ‘Under the Stars’.
Wolford CCO Silvia Azzali, said: “This special collaboration between Wolford and Grace Jones represents a confirmation of Wolford’s fundamentals, paying homage to the timeless style of the brand through a bold visual vocabulary.”
New Wolford Artistic Director Nao Takekoshi, who started his career at Issey Miyake and has worked with Cerruti, Gucci, Donna Karan, Jil Sander, and Calvin Klein, first collaborated with Wolford in 2021 on a capsule collection of essential pieces.
Azzali added: “We are honoured that Takekoshi has undertaken this role at the creative helm of our company. His contemporary vision for the brand and focus on craftsmanship and technology embody a consistent and forward-thinking approach for the brand.”
Takeoshi commented: “Being appointed by Wolford represents an honour and the continuation of a journey I started in 2021. Wolford’s iconic positioning in the fashion world driven by legendary material innovation and dedication to sustainability are key elements in my inspirational journey. I look forward to reinforcing the brand's core values and creating designs that embody the modern woman of today.”
