In Pictures: GapStudio reworks American classics for AW26
Gap has today launched its more premium GapStudio collection for AW26, with a campaign featuring actors and models Esther McGregor and Alton Mason.
The 17-piece collection, designed by Zac Posen, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Gap Inc, “explores the familiar codes of American dressing” through a contemporary lens, with a play on the proportion and construction of pieces that have long defined Gap and American style, featuring denim, military khaki, chinos, T-shirts, utility clothing and workwear.

Denim comes in deep indigo and washed black, with volume and elongated proportions bringing new precision to familiar workwear forms. There are exaggerated collars and engineered seamwork, while trompe l’œil details twist perceptions of fabric and form.
Key pieces include the ‘Crop Icon Denim Jacket’ (£100), the ‘Herringbone Peacoat’ (£125), the ‘Poplin Big Shirt’ (£100), the ‘Pintuck Flare Jeans’ (£100), the ‘Pleated Parachute Trousers’ (£100) and the ‘Trompe L’Oeil Printed Denim Sheer T-shirt’ (£30).
Zac Posen said: “With the Fall GapStudio collection, we continued to evolve Gap’s design language by looking at some of the most familiar pieces in the American wardrobe through a more architectural lens.
“There’s a play between utility and sensuality, precision and ease, and the familiar and unexpected. It’s about evolution rather than nostalgia.”
Throughout the collection, traditional wardrobe archetypes are taken apart and reconsidered. Tailoring is relaxed, utility becomes sculptural and proportions move between cropped and elongated, with shaped jackets and hoodies balanced against generous shirts and long, fluid trousers. The interplay “creates a subtle tension between structure and ease, polish and the street”.
Against a stripped-back setting, the imagery featuring actors and models McGregor and Mason focuses on silhouette, attitude and “the physicality of the clothes”.
