Dr. Martens has reunited with New York-based fashion label Engineered Garments to launch two variations of its classic 1461 shoe.

Sticking rigidly by the utilitarian principles that fuse the two brands together, the British footwear brand's fifth collaboration with Engineered Garments subtly nods back to its first pair with an ‘overly engineered’ asymmetric lace system that stretches down one side of the shoe.

The shoes are built from black smooth leather or milkshake hi suede, and feature signature Dr. Marten’s markings, yellow welt stitching and twin scripted heel loops alongside a silver-foiled sock liner and a secondary pair of two-tone laces to enable customisation.

The collection was shot in the original Dr. Marten’s factory on the people who made and handled it, including Dr. Marten’s factory workers and members of the Nepenthes London family.

The new Dr. Martens x Engineered Garments collaboration is due to release 9 September, available online and select partners.
