In Pictures: Amy Powney's capsule collection for Finisterre
Celebrated designer and environmental activist Amy Powney has teamed up with coastal and surf brand Finisterre on a capsule womenswear collection, designed for the modern woman "navigating life between the city and the sea".
The collaboration with Powney, who runs her own sustainable brand AKYN, marks a step forward for Finisterre's evolution in womenswear by introducing a more fashion-led offer, while staying true to its responsible ethos.

Called 'All Rivers Lead to the Sea' the 17-piece collection includes knits, outerwear, woven separates and trousers, as well as a beach robe, all designed to be multifunctional and versatile. In keeping with Powney's approach to her own brand, she has deployed natural and lower-impact fabrics for the Finisterre capsule such as Tencel®, NetPlus®, certified organic cotton, recycled fills, and 100% Merino wool.
The collection is defined by a palette of earthy, grounded tones like mossy greens, deep sea blues, and muted neutrals inspired by the rugged natural landscape of Finisterre's home country of Cornwall.

Powney said: “I have always been inspired by Finisterre and its incredible ethos and commitment to sustainability, with a deep passion for the natural world.
"I wanted to create a collection for women which, from a design perspective, speaks to our many layers and passions. In the rhythm of modern life, each day we ebb and flow through multiple environments and, simultaneously, many versions of ourselves. I wanted to create a multifunctional and versatile capsule, empowering women to transcend landscapes.
"The collection is also a reminder that we are all inherently connected, that our lives are intertwined with the surrounding ecosystems. Finisterre has an incredible commitment to saving the sea, and as an urban dweller, I am very aware that all rivers lead to the sea; therefore, we are all connected, all part of the problem and together can all be part of the solution. That’s why in celebration of this collection, we are donating £5,000 to support Thames21, an environmental charity that works with communities, to restore and ensure the protection of our waterways as ‘all rivers lead to the sea'."

Finisterre design manager Rose Savidge added: “The collection brings together technical performance with effortless, adaptable design — created for modern women who move fluidly between urban life and coastal landscapes.”
This sentiment was echoed by Finisterre’s Product Director, Amelia Hornblow, who added: “Amy’s work in fashion has been a huge inspiration to us. Not only does she bring a beautiful handwriting to her design language, but her design ethos and commitment to sustainable design and sourcing align seamlessly with Finisterre’s values.”

Highlights from the collection, which goes on sale at www.finisterre.com and at select retailers on 4 September, include:
