I And Me launches debut biodegradable denim collection

London-based denim and lifestyle brand I and Me has added to its season-neutral sustainable offerings with the launch of its first biodegradable denim collection.

The collection, Better With U, features organic cotton and hemp selvedge denim available in rinse indigo, vintage and bleach finishes, as well as a textured beige selvedge denim from Japanese mill Collect, based in the denim district of Kojima, Okayama.

Designed with longevity in mind, the collection also utilises screw off metal wear and natural threads rather than synthetic ones, enabling its customers to dispose of or recycle the products sustainably at the end of the garments life cycle.

Inspired by the "The Baggy Generation" of the late 1980s and early 90s, the East London-based brand said the collection "tells the story of early Britpop culture through core baggy fits, styled with classic Adidas Spezials".

Besides the denim collection, I and Me also launched its first-ever seamless zero-waste knitwear line and expanded its range of 100% organic cotton T-shirts in short and long sleeves. Highlights include the pocket cardigan featuring bespoke dyed corozo nut buttons and the slim line long sleeve tee, knitted using a premium drop needle technique.

Founded by former denim buyer Jessica Gebhart, I and Me works on a genderless and season-less model with sustainability a key driver at every stage of the manufacturing process. The brand source its selvedge denim from Japan and jersey and wool from Italy, with most production being in England.
