Huntsman: Savile Row takes up residence in NYC

David Watts
21 March 2016

The opening of Huntsman’s New York City pied-a-terre sees the first Savile Row tailor opening up a permanent residency in the US. Since opening, its US business has been extremely positive and is growing while also facilitating existing customers who appreciate having "Huntsman on 57th" much closer than its Savile Row premises.

An estimated 60% of the company's client base is American and it is a loyal American customer base that it has had for decades. Huntsman is known for dressing great Americans such as Presidents (Ronald Reagan) and Hollywood stars (Gregory Peck). Choosing an understated space on the 7th floor in a partially residential building across from the new Park Hyatt hotel on West 57th Street, the space comprises just two rooms decorated in subdued tweed where understatement is key. There is not even a Huntsman sign on the door, it just simply reads “7A”.

HUNTSMAN NEW YORK 8

Huntsman celebrated the opening of its New York pied-a-terre, Huntsman on 57th, the brand’s first New York location, with a dinner co-hosted by Huntsman Owner and Chairman Pierre Lagrange, Jay McInerney and Anthony Peck.

Huntsman on 57th will be the seat of Huntsman bespoke trunk shows, in an environment that has been described by the first visitors as "literally being transported" to its London store. In addition to serving bespoke clients as a liaison with London, Michael Anderson, manager of Huntsman America, will be providing a full measuring service for its Made to Measure orders. When visiting the store, clients will be able to browse through a full selection of cloths curated by its head cutters. By special request goods will be shipped from London on short notice for viewing in the new premises.

A selection of ready-to-wear pieces for that special occasion, can be found in store as well as a range of accessories, from exclusive Huntsman ties to suspenders. No doubt media moguls and scions of business will relish the opportunity to embrace the quintessentially British gentleman style now available in the heart of New York City. Head Cutter and creative director Campbell Carey and Client Manager Michael Anderson will be visiting our East Coast clients four times a year.
