Hugo Boss is set to launch its resale platform in the third quarter of 2022 to expand its sustainability activities as part of the "Claim 5 strategy".

The 'Hugo Boss Pre-Loved' platform will allow customers to buy a curated range of pre-owned items via the platform and also return their own Hugo Boss clothing.

The resale service, accessible through its online store and operated by re-commerce platform provider Faume, will initially launch in France, before rolling out to Germany, the UK and the US in 2025.

Customers can return items of clothing from Hugo Boss via an online process in exchange for credit to buy new or second-hand clothing online or in selected BOSS and HUGO stores.

The returned products are checked for quality before being resold through the resale platform. Hugo Boss said the platform will offer only clothing initially, with accessories to be added in the future.

In addition, Hugo Boss is launching a care and repair service to further extend the lifecycle of its products in select German stores this year, with more key markets to follow. The service will cover the repair of suits, jeans, shoes, jersey products, and leather goods.

Heiko Schäfer, Chief Operating Officer of Hugo Boss, said: "As a premium supplier, we manufacture high-quality products that are designed to last a long time - even with changing owners. Entering the growing resale market is therefore a natural step for us as a company

"Hugo Boss Pre-Loved is an important building block on our path to a circular economy model, while the Care & Repair Service enables our customers to wear their favourite items for longer and thus further reduce the consumption of scarce resources."
