House of Fraser has appointed Paddy Earnshaw as its new chief marketing officer. Earnshaw was previously chief customer officer at Doddle and he joins the department store as its own chief customer officer David Walmsley departs.

Walmsley joined House of Fraser from Marks & Spencer, where he had been digital director for five years, in August 2016. It is understood he will not be directly replaced.

Earnshaw begins his new role next month and will be responsible for all of the retailer's marketing, both online and offline, and will play an instrumental role in the ongoing development‎ of its ecommerce offer.

He will report to chief executive Alex Williamson who recently joined the business from Goodwood. "Paddy brings a wealth of digital, retail and online experience to House of Fraser and is one of the brightest, most innovative marketeers in our sector with a strong track record of delivering results at pace,” Williamson said.

“He has always shown a real focus on customers in his previous roles and will bring a huge amount to our overall customer proposition," he added.

Earnshaw said of his appointment: "I look forward to working with Alex and the executive team as we continue to build on our newly relaunched online business to deliver a best-in-class customer journey and keep innovating to stay ahead of the pack and further enhance the customer experience.”
