H&M has unveiled its upcoming collaboration with luxury fashion designer Sabyasachi – who has been dubbed "the Chanel of India".

The Sabyasachi x H&M collection consists of both womenswear and menswear and is described as a "modern statement for glamourous loungewear for fashion lovers who want a chic yet eclectic ensemble.".

Sabyasachi hails from Kolkata and launched his label in 1999. Today he has grown the company to encompass couture, ready to wear, fine jewellery and accessories.

A highlight of this collection will be Indian textile and print traditions brought to life by the Sabyasachi Art Foundation with meticulously crafted vintage block prints and multicolor silhouettes.

For women, key pieces include long flowy dresses and kaftans that are to be worn in layers and mixed up with lots of accessories. The Henley shirt, the high waist wide chinos and the photographer jacket are key pieces from the men’s collection.

Maria Gemzell, Head of New Development, H&M, commented: “At H&M, we are thrilled about the launch of our collaboration with iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi. At a time like this, we believe people value the use of homegrown crafts and textiles more than ever and that’s something no one can do better than Sabyasachi. We look forward to taking this stunning collection to as many people across the globe as we can”

The Sabyasachi x H&M collection will be available in selected H&M stores and online from 12 August 2021
