H&M have unveiled its first-ever collaboration with South African designer Mantsho, after originally announcing the collaboration in April 2019.

Made up of 15 pieces, the collection features an array of bold patterns and wax-printed designs, with "flowy, easy fitting cuts, frills and gathers" in a range of colour palettes from blues, browns to blacks, hues of pink and amber reds.

Designer Palesa Mokubung is based in Johannesburg and launched her brand Mantsho in 2004. The Mantsho label, meaning "black is beautiful" in Mokubung’s native Sesotho language, was established in 2004 and has since graced numerous runways including Greece, India, Jamaica and Nigeria.

Pernilla Wohlfahrt, Director of Design at H&M said “Palesa’s creativity with colour, print and silhouettes is inspiring as she celebrates the female form through her designs which complement the female shape in a flattering and playful way. We are so excited to share this collection with our customers across the globe.”

Since 2004, H&M has collaborated every year with a fashion designer to produce a capsule collection for its stores. Mantsho’s collaboration puts the brand in the company of designers such as Balmain, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfeld.

H&M x Mantsho will be priced between £24.99–£79.99 and will be sold online and in selected UK stores from 15 August.
