H&M is to open a new and updated store in Glasgow's Braehead Shopping Centre in May 2022, as the retailer steps up investment in both its physical and digital stores.

The centre’s existing H&M store will move from its current space to a new 10-year lease on a ground floor unit, spanning 17,000 sq ft.

H&M said the new store's design and offering has been developed in line with the intention to move towards circular, climate-positive fashion alongside an integrated customer experience.

The store will stock the Swedish retailer's selection of apparel, footwear and accessories for women, men and kids, as well as its 'Divided range' for young adults.

H&M’s Garment Collection and Recycling service will also be offered, allowing customers to donate any unwanted clothes and textiles regardless of brand, to be fully recycled.

Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual said: "We are incredibly excited that H&M has opted to upgrade its offer here at Braehead, following many successful years at the centre. The news is also indicative of continued stabilisation and returning confidence across the market. Retailers are once again out looking for space, as the uncertainty around covid further subsides."

Toni Galli, Country Manager for H&M UK and Ireland added: "We can’t wait to open a new store in Braehead this Spring. As always, our ambition is to offer our customers a modern and meaningful shopping experience were style, creativity and culture are celebrated, and we are confident that our new Braehead store will offer exactly this. We cannot wait to share more details about our exciting activations and H&M Member offer with our customers soon."
