Fashion retailer H&M has announced that it is suspending sales in Russia and has temporary closed stores in Ukraine, as Russia's large-scale military invasion of Ukraine continues.

H&M highlighted that it had closed stores in Ukraine for the safety of customers and colleagues and that it continues to monitor and evaluate the situation, whilst also speaking to relevant stakeholders.

The company has said that it has also donated clothes and other necessities, whilst the H&M Foundation has made donations to Save the Children and to UNHCR.

The brand commented: "H&M Group is deeply concerned about the tragic developments in Ukraine and stand with all the people who are suffering. H&M Group cares for all colleagues and joins all those around the world who are calling for peace."

Online retailer ASOS also confirmed that it had ceased trading in Russia and Ukraine, highlighting that the company's priority is the safety of its colleagues and partners in both countries.
