H&M Move launches capsule collection made from captured carbon emissions

In a move towards sustainable sportswear, retail giant H&M and material science company LanzaTech have conjured up an innovative collection created from diverted carbon emissions.

H&M joined forces with LanzaTech to push forward the sustainable agenda whilst democratising eco-friendly sportswear. The drop, which is available online now, is made partly from captured emissions and partly with H&M’s DryMove technology. This trademarked material pulls away moisture from the skin and keeps Movers comfortable and dry while moving.

LanzaTech captures carbon emissions headed for the atmosphere from steel mills, traps them in bioreactors and converts them into the same building blocks that conventional polyester is made from. This revolutionary solution helps to reduce pollution while limiting the use of virgin fossil resources needed to create new products.

Jennifer Holmgren, CEO of LanzaTech, said: "The innovations in the textile industry today focus on sustainability for a better world. We are proud to partner with H&M Move on this drop which reflects ways to rethink how we make and how we experience our clothing."

Simon Brown, General Manager at H&M Move, commented: "In collaboration with LanzaTech, we are thrilled to offer our customers a capsule collection made with CarbonSmart™ polyester, a ground-breaking material using repurposed carbon emissions.

"This partnership enables H&M Move to explore innovative materials and playing our part in helping to create more sustainable sportswear in the future."

H&M Move's three-piece collection includes a jumpsuit, top and leggings. The sleek, monochrome separates draw on the contemporary 'athluxury' movement and feature contrasting seams.

This news follows the release of H&M Move's ‘Empower Collection’ campaign, featuring stars including Zlatan Ibrahimović and Jane Fonda.
