H&M and Stella McCartney reunite after two decades for 'pioneering' collaboration
H&M has announced a landmark partnership with designer and sustainability trailblazer Stella McCartney, almost exactly 20 years after their first collaboration debuted in November 2005. That original project marked only the second designer collaboration in H&M’s history.
Set to launch in Spring 2026, the new collection will spotlight certified, responsible materials, many of them recycled, and offer a compelling view into the possibilities of alternatives to traditional textiles. True to McCartney’s design DNA, the edit will feature her signature silhouettes, house codes and reinterpretations of iconic styles pulled from her archive.
Last night, stars at The British Fashion Awards offered an early glimpse of the upcoming collection. Amelia Gray, Anitta, Emily Ratajkowski, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Bel Priestley, Alton Mason and Kiara Nirghin all attended wearing pieces from the yet-to-launch collaboration (as seen in cover image). Emily Ratajkowski wore a black mini dress featuring draped cape detailing across the shoulders while Amelia Gray appeared in a beige sparkly lace and crystal-effect mini dress.
A key component of the upcoming collaboration is the Insights Board - a space designed for curiosity, listening and collective problem solving. Its purpose is to explore new ways in which brands, and the fashion industry at large, can influence and ideate meaningful change. It also aims to raise awareness around animal welfare and shine a light on innovation-driven solutions.

Ann-Sofie Johansson & Stella McCartney
Stella McCartney said: "I’m excited to reunite with H&M after 20 years since our first collaboration. Reworking pieces from my archive brought back so much energy and joy. This second partnership feels like a chance to look at how far we’ve come on sustainability, cruelty-free practices and conscious designs - and to stay honest about how far we still have to go - together.
"I am thrilled to have H&M join me on this road, real change only happens when we push from both the outside and the inside, and I’ve always believed in infiltrating from within to move the industry forward.”
Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Advisor, added: "Stella is a true ground breaker. From the start, she disrupted fashion with designs that put forward a rule-breaking femininity.
"This collection is full of must-have pieces that nod to that legacy. Stella’s moral compass and tireless commitment to sustainable practices have long inspired all of us at H&M, so it’s an honour to partner with her on such an ambitious project."
2025 marks 20 years since H&M launched its first designer collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld, a partnership that redefined the high-low fashion landscape and sparked a global frenzy.
Since then, H&M has partnered with some of the world’s most influential designers - from Versace and Balmain to Simone Rocha and Mugler - using collaborations as a way to democratise design and bring boundary-pushing fashion to the high street.
Most recently, in October, H&M unveiled its collection with Glenn Martens. It was a conceptual and witty reimagining of British archetypes.
The Stella McCartney x H&M collection will land in stores and online in Spring 2026.
