High street decline is worst for eight years

Retailers are suffering the longest period of declining sales for almost eight years.
A survey by the CBI employers’ group found that retail sales fell for the third month running in July, the first time they have done so since 2011. Orders made with suppliers also fell for a third consecutive month as the slowdown infected the broader industry.
