Harvey Nichols appoints Laura Larbalestier as group buying director

Lauretta Roberts
26 July 2018

Harvey Nichols has appointed Laura Larbalestier as group buying director; she joins the luxury department store group from Boutique 1 where she had been buying director.

In her new role Larbalestier will be responsible for womenswear, menswear and accessories across the business and will report to co-chief operating officer Daniela Rinaldi.

Prior to Boutique 1, which has offices in London and Dubai, as well as 20 stores around the world and an e-store at www.boutique1.com, Larbalestier held senior buying and merchandising roles with Browns and Selfridges.

“We are really looking forward to having Laura join our management team. This is an exciting time for Harvey Nichols and with her wealth of experience and expertise, we have no doubt that she will help strengthen the fashion sector within the business," said co-COOs Daniela Rinaldo and Manju Malhotra in a statement.

Larbalestier added: “I am thrilled to be joining Harvey Nichols at this exciting time. As one of the world’s leading luxury department stores, the strength of the brand, its prestigious history and world-class team represent an incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to get started.”

Harvey Nichols' new womenswear floor in Knightsbridge

Harvey Nichols has been investing heavily in its flagship store in London's Knightsbridge and last month it unveiled its revamped womenswear floor, which has been designed to give the feel of a luxury boutique, as opposed to a traditional department store layout with branded shopfits.

As well as Knightsbridge, Harvey Nichols has stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland in Bristol, Dublin, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds and a Beauty Bazaar in Liverpool. Globally it has stores in Hong Kong, Dubai, Riyadh, Istanbul, Ankara and Kuwait, and in May added a new store in Doha.
