Harrys London unveils new Harley Street developed footbed with wellbeing benefits
Premium British footwear brand Harrys London has unveiled its new Harley Street developed HLTSystem footbed for its new ‘Harley’ loafer, which has been "designed to benefit the wellbeing of the whole body".
The brand enlisted Harley Street-based sports physiotherapy practitioners Marylebone Health Group (MHG) to help develop an anatomical approach to foot support – working to a brief from Graeme Fiddler, Create Director at Harrys London.
MHG studied how the sinusoidal motion of human walking – the cyclical movement that encompasses posture, rhythm, balance and speed – interacts with the pressure points of the feet, "to arrive at the blueprint for a feet-first approach to holistic well-being"
Specialist sports design studio IIID then applied MHG's findings to Harrys’ trademark Technogel insole – the gel-filled capsule which ensures weight distribution and impact relief – to arrive at the multi-faceted HLTSystem footbed.
Designed more from an anatomical than an orthopaedic perspective, the HLTSystem footbed is crafted from foam gel and Technogel, with an all-important interspersing layer of air, and is both ergonomic and markedly light.
Graeme Fiddler said: "We have been developing the project for 18 months. It’s all about comfort, with double cushioning from the Vibram outsole and the Technogel footbed.
"Currently, the footbed is just going into the Harley loafer, but we will look at introducing the footbed across the collection if we feel it fits appropriately."
The Harley loafer also features a new in-house designed Vibram sole. Made from a durable rubber compound filled with Vibram foam and featuring a geometric lug sole for grip, it was conceived to perfectly complement the HLTSystem footbed.
The Harley will be available to buy on the Harrys London website in spring 2025, priced at £550 - £595.
