Harrods has revealed plans to open a series of standalone beauty stores, called H Beauty, outside of London.

The first H Beauty store will open at intu Lakeside in Essex next April. The 23,000 sq ft store will stock brands such as Chanel, Dior and Huda Beauty along with new brands to Harrods.

In addition services such as facials and blow-dries will be offered along with refreshments at a "coffee to cocktail" bar.

A second site has been identified in Milton Keynes but the exact location has yet to be revealed.

The move comes after Harrods unveiled its revamped 90,000 sq ft beauty hall at its Knightsbridge store in June, followed by a 9,000 sq ft skincare emporium this month.

Nobody is doing or investing more to showcase to customers what is possible in the world of 21st-century beauty than Harrods,” Harrods beauty director Annalise Fard said.

“With the opening of our new state-of-the-art beauty retail space in Knightsbridge in June 2019 and the 9000sq ft skincare emporium in October 2019, we are on a mission to show the world the art of what is truly possible in the world of beauty today.

“H beauty is an opportunity to bring our mission to more beauty lovers across the UK. This investment demonstrates our belief in the strength of our beauty authority and the opportunities within the beauty industry here in the UK, and represents a major extension to our current beauty business.”

Harrods' world-renowned Knightsbridge store was opened in 1814 and it has two outposts in Heathrow and Gatwick airports. This latest venture will take the brand to a nationwide audience and to a wider consumer demographic. Lakeside is one of intu's flagship destinations attracting 100,000 visitors a day and up to 300,000 during the Christmas season.
