Harrods will launch the luxury Ayurvedic skincare and haircare brand Ranavat, founded by South Asian engineer and scientist, Michelle Ranavat this month.

The brand uses carefully curated ingredients, and is inspired by Indian traditions. It further ensures that every product is crafted with traditional practices by having an on-staff Ayurvedic doctor to oversee the process.

Most of the formulas that are used are vegan and organic, and the brand has invested recyclable packaging.

The brand was founded in 2017 by Ranavat, who grew up in Wisconsin as a first generation Indian American but re-connected with her heritage when she visited Jaipur, India in 2010.

What sparked the idea to launch her business was the elevated level of self-care that is practiced in India and the devotion to ritualistic daily practices, and inspired her to launch a "botanical skincare collection that drives connection".

The businesses' range of products includes the Luminous Ceremony Cream Cleanser, award-winning Radiant Rani Brightening Saffron Serum and the Mighty Majesty Fortifying Hair Serum.

The founder describes the skincare line as: "Essentially, the melding of modern alchemy and romance", adding that when she creates the brand's unique blends she "takes the long road" to ensure that each "ingredient is methodically extracted, preserved for its healing properties, and secured for your skin’s benefit.
