Gymshark has appointed former Very Group CMO Carly O’Brien as Vice President of marketing as the fast-growing, British gymwear brand bids to become a "household name".

O'Brien had been with online retail giant Very Group for three years and prior to that held senior marketing roles in the finance sector, with businesses such as Virgin Money and NatWest.

Her new role at Gymshark includes increasing brand awareness and implementing new customer engagement strategies on a global basis, but also introducing a new regional marketing model.

“The opportunity to bring the marketing team together in the international group, explore all the opportunities to build more brand awareness and be part of the Gymshark journey to build an iconic brand is both bold and exciting. I’m thrilled I get to be part of that story and I can’t wait to get started,” she said of her new role.

She will report to the Gymshark’s international president Niran Chana and is the latest in a raft of high profile hires at the Solihull-based business. Danielle Petesic, formerly of Lululemon, has been appointed as chief product officer and John Douglas, who was formerly with Burberry, has joined as chief technology officer.
