Fitness apparel and athleisure brand Gymshark is looking to raise £175,000 for NHS charities.

To help Gymshark reach its target, it’s challenging its followers to work up a sweat while they work out at home, or on their daily exercise outing, and then post a “sweaty selfie” on to their Twitter, Instagram or Facebook main feed, with the hashtag #NHSSweatySelfie.

For every selfie uploaded, Gymshark with donate £5 per person per day to Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity. Further donations can also be made via a JustGiving page.

The Solihull-based online retailer has more than four million followers on its main Instagram account. Gymshark founder, Ben Francis, whose mother is a nurse, launched the business in 2012 when he was just 19.

Speaking on Birmingham Updates, Francis said: “Having watched my mum work as a nurse at the QE (Queen Elizabeth Hospital) in Birmingham all of my life, I know first-hand how incredibly hardworking they are.”

“This is a global situation, that’s well and truly being felt here in the West Midlands. We want to play our part in supporting the NHS by donating what we can to the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity.

“We admire the tireless work everyone is doing there and will do our utmost to support them, as they support us through this difficult time.”
