Graduate Fashion Foundation has today announced the launch of its debut innovative digital platform, featuring graduate portfolio profiles, fashion university pages and bespoke live streaming of the annual GFW event.

Developed by The Assembly, the portal caters for two distinct functions in the fashion world: attracting a global audience and capitalising on the growing interest for Graduate Fashion Week, and utilising technology to match highly talented graduates to potential future careers.

For first time in its 30-year history, the event is fully embracing digital technology, providing a platform where the event is viewable across the globe, as well providing the functionality for the graduate work to be on display and accessible to the industry year round.

During Graduate Fashion Week, the platform will be the home to all live stream event content, featuring 11 runway shows, exclusive industry panel talks, creative university fashion films, refreshing designer diaries and archive footage from the past 30 years of GFW.

Registered users will be able to view all exclusive livestreamed content during the event, mixed with brand partners messaging and industry conversation.

From May 2021, industry and media guests can scout talent from over 1,500 curated graduate portfolio profiles when the Graduate Portfolio Profile hub is activated, allowing potential employers from across the industry to view work. Additionally the search function filters the offering to 40 specialisms making it easier for industry to find the next hire suitable for their needs.

The Portfolio Profile allows the graduate to personalise their page, offering a detailed overview of their work, individual imagery, video content and work specialisms. After the end of GFW, the portfolios will remain active for three years and accessible to anyone looking to view.

Physical events this season taking place at Graduate Fashion Week will include a myriad of exhibitions, showrooms, industry appointments and the GFW catwalk Hall. Additionally, GFF and Samsung KX are to continue its partnership to "celebrate the talent of tomorrow".

All digital and physical activity will be strictly run to adhere with the Government’s COVID-19 regulations and social distancing restrictions at that time.

Nicola Hitchens, Special Projects & Communications Director at Graduate Fashion Foundation, exclusively told TheIndustry.fashion: "The creation of the new portfolio hub has been a goal of the charity for sometime and it feels wonderful to be able to launch it this year for the Class of 2021 graduates who have had 2 years of their studies affected by the pandemic.

"The platform will allow for year round access to top global talent, making it easy for international industry to find their next hire. Plus ensuring the work on the Graduate Fashion Foundation charity continues after the main GFW event has finished in June."

Hilary Alexander OBE, President of Graduate Fashion Foundation, added: "Following a challenging year, our 30th anniversary is the perfect opportunity to embrace the digital revolution by designing and delivery a state-of-the-art platform that will further benefit the graduates and universities we support by offering year-round access to industry to scout from the best global fashion talent."
