Independent directional East London men’s and womenswear retailer, Goodhood, has appointed Iain Renwick, the former CEO of Liberty, as its first non-executive director.

Renwick is the first external appointment to the board at Goodhood in a move by the founding partners, Jo Sindle and Kyle Stewart, to reinforce their senior management team as they look to consider growth and international expansion opportunities.

“It’s very invigorating for me to be joining Goodhood at this key moment to help define its unique global growth priorities,” said Renwick. “I have rarely come across a more exciting retail opportunity in the UK. The brilliant founding partners offer a fresh and rarely found approach to retail by offering a curated lifestyle for the independent minded, with a spirit that captures street fashion as it’s happening right now.

“I feel that if Arthur Liberty, the revolutionary retailer of his times, were alive today, he would be doing exactly what Goodhood is."

“I feel that if Arthur Liberty, the revolutionary retailer of his times, were alive today, he would be doing exactly what Goodhood is by creating and building from their East London base a new branded retail multi-channel concept that is becoming a true leader for a new generation.”

Started in 2007, Goodhood is an award winning multi-brand retailer selling over 200 brands across menswear, womenswear, lifestyle and cosmetics from its store at 151 Curtain Road, EC2, as well as online. Co-founder, Jo Sindle, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Iain to the Goodhood team. His wealth of retail experience and business knowledge will be instrumental in helping us achieve our growth plans.

“Our ambitions for Goodhood are huge and varied and this is the first step in the next phase of our business journey. We are both really excited about the next five years."
