Gigi Hadid stars in Max Mara accessories AW16 campaign

Meisel has created some of the Italian house's most memorable campaigns including those from the early 2000s featuring Stella Tenant and Linda Evangelista. He shot Hadid, who recently celebrated her 21st birthday, in his legendary New York studio.

The campaign marks Hadid's second outing for Max Mara. For AW15 she was cast by the house in a campaign that offered a contemporary take on Marilyn Monroe.

Her casting for her first Max Mara campaign pre-dated her stratospheric rise. Hadid now has almost 20m followers on social media and is one of the most sought-after models on the circuit, along with her sister Bella.

Hadid counts Taylor Swift among her best friends and is dating former One Direction star Zayn Malik. Her mother, Yolanda Foster, is one of the best known dutch models of the 80s and 90s.

The campaign features the new season’s version of the Max Mara Whitney Bag, designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and presented last year as a homage to the Whitney Museum. It is now one of the bestsellers of the fashion house. Also featured are the JBag shoppers and sunglasses in the "ultra-modern new retro range".
